During the 2001 Oregon Legislative Session, Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) 705.730 through 705.732 was passed into law. This law, effective Jan. 1, 2002, require that the Director of Department
of Consumer and Business Services maintain a registry of international trade consultants. OAR 441-950-0010 through 441-950-0050 implement the requirements by outlining the processes in which international
trade consultants may apply for registration, continue registration, and the circumstances in which the Director may remove an international trade consultant from the registry.
|
In order to be considered for listing in the Registry of International Trade Consultants, the applicant should be one who is involved in one or more of the following activities:
|
| (a) |
assisting private businesses in finding international markets for their goods and services; |
| (b) |
promoting international awareness of Oregon products and services as well as assistance or economic incentives available from the government at all levels; |
| (c) |
assisting the private sector in dealing with international laws and the procedures of international markets.
|
Listing in the registry is voluntary and the consultants who are listed in the registry have paid a fee to be listed in the registry. Information about each consultant contained in
the registry is based on data supplied by that consultant.
|
Each consultant must meet certain minimum requirements in order to qualify for listing in the registry. The determination as to whether a consultant meets the minimum requirements
for listing is based on information supplied by the consultant.
|
|
On Dec. 31, 2005, one consultant was listed in the registry.
