Violation: Issued insurance policies with racially-differentiated premiums.
Penalty: The Texas Department of Insurance, on behalf of other state insurance regulators, entered into a Multi-State Regulatory Settlement Agreement with ANICO on June 9, 2004. ANICO agreed to provide certain remedial benefits to former and current policyholders; and to pay fines totaling $250,000 to the participating states. Oregon received $2,117.

Ohio was the lead state for the examination, and was assisted by examiners from Illinois, Nebraska and Oregon. Transamerica Occidental entered into a consent order but does not admit or deny any of the deficiencies identified in the examination.
Penalty: Transamerica Occidental will immediately initiate compliance with all terms and conditions of the consent order and follow all recommendations of the examination report as they apply to Oregon.
