About the Rates and Forms Section and Mission Statement
Before licensed insurers can conduct business in Oregon they must file their policy forms and, in some cases, their premium rates for prior approval by the Insurance Division. This prior approval requirement provides an important safeguard for the insurance-buying public in Oregon.
Professional staff in the Rates and Forms Section review policy forms and premium rates to ensure that:
- Policy provisions are fair to consumers and in compliance with Oregon's laws and regulations.
- Premium rates are reasonable in relation to the coverage provided.
- Policy language and sales materials are clear and understandable.
