Employees who wish to
transfer or demote to another position within DCBS must complete the DCBS
Lateral Transfer / Voluntary Demotion Request form. This form may be submitted at any
time for current or future job openings.
Once you have submitted this form, you will be considered a candidate anytime a vacancy is
posted within DCBS in the classification(s) for which you have qualified and you will be
contacted by the hiring division to schedule an interview. Since you did not actually "apply"
for the position, you will need to provide a resume for the interview. If you are not interested
in interviewing, you can decline the interview. Your name remains on the Lateral Transfer
List until you notify Employee Services that you wish to have your name removed. Should you
promote to another position, you will be automatically dropped from the list, however if
you wish to be on the Lateral Transfer List in your new classification, you will need
to submit a new Lateral Transfer Request form.

NOTE: If you wish to transfer to another state agency, you must contact the specific
agency in which you are interested and ask what process the agency will require you to follow
to be considered as a lateral or demotion candidate.
