Safety Conference for the Pulp and Paper industry in Portland
The annual Western Pulp and Paper Workers Safety and Health Conference
is scheduled for Portland's Doubletree Jantzen Beach Hotel from December
3-6. This year's conference is the twelfth edition for the event, which
grew from a day-long meeting in 1990 to the West's largest safety conference
dedicated to the pulp and paper industry.
Sessions will cover topics such as safety-committee effectiveness, road
rage and railroad safety, and general security with an emphasis on emergency
preparedness. More than 40 exhibitors will offer demonstrations and introduce
their services.
The conference is a partnership between Oregon OSHA, the Oregon-Idaho
Pulp and Paper Workers Council of the Association of Western Pulp and
Paper Workers, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the Labor
Education Research Center, the Center for Research on Occupational and
Environmental Toxicology (CROET) at OHSU, Washington Safety Council of
the Association of Western Pulp and Paper Workers and WISHA.
Registration fees for the conference are $150 for the full three-day event,
or attend any single day for $95. For more information about the conference
or to register, call Oregon OSHA's Conference Section, (503) 378-3272
