The Insurance Division's consumer advocates respond to thousands of complaints each year from consumers who believe they have been treated unfairly by insurance companies or agents. Complaint forms

What happens when I file a complaint?

An advocate will:

  • Let you know we received your complaint
  • Give a copy of your complaint to the insurance company or agent and ask for an explanation
  • Decide what to do next based on all the information
  • Advise you of our findings

How long will it take?

Most complaints are resolved within 60 days but it depends on the type of complaint.

Confidentiality

Complaints are confidential. However,

  • A copy will be sent to the insurance company/agent named in the complaint.
