The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), was signed into federal law March
23, 2010. PPACA changes apply only to policies for health insurance coverage referred to as
"major medical" in the federal statute, which is comprehensive health coverage. While
most of the new benefits take effect in 2014, some significant changes take effect in September
2010.
The NAIC Speed to Market Task Force worked with industry to develop a checklist that most
states are using to process endorsement filings. These endorsements amend previously approved
policies, and are our top priority for review.
You can find the checklist on our filing requirements pages under group major medical, small
group major medical, and individual major medical.
Please see our New Developments page for additional information.
