The Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division (Oregon OSHA) will offer a series of eight free training sessions to members of the Washington County business community during November.

Effective Safety Training - November 12, 2002 at 8:00am
Knowing 'how' to train workers can be as vital as the safety information itself. This class teaches trainers to design, present and evaluate effective workplace safety training programs.

OSHA 300 - November 12, 2002 at 1:00pm
‘OSHA 300' is a must for a supervisor or safety committee member who fills out the new OSHA Form 300 log - and the new record keeping requirements that went into effect with the form in January 2002.

Effective Recommendations - November 13, 2002 at 8:00am
‘Effective Recommendations' will address how to write and present safety recommendations in a manner that shows management a safety improvement is a positive investment in your company's future.

Hazard Communication Program - November 13, 2002 at 1:00pm
‘Hazard Communication Program' will show participants the basics of writing a hazard communication plan - including assembling a list of chemicals in the workplace and training employees.

Effective Safety Supervision - November 19, 2002 at 8:00am
‘Effective Safety Supervision' gives supervisors a greater understanding about providing a safe workplace, the costs of safety and Oregon OSHA rules that apply to all workplaces.

Confined Space Safety - November 19, 2002 at 1:00pm
‘Confined Space Safety' will help participants learn about the special safety requirements when a worker will be inside of a confined space (or inside of machinery), and when a special permit is required.

Effective Recognition Systems - November 20, 2002 at 8:00am
Is the safety culture in your business fear-driven or success-driven? Participants will learn the differences between positive and negative reinforcement at work and how it impacts safety in the workplace.

Exposure Control/Bloodborne Pathogens - November 20, 2002 at 1:00pm
‘Exposure Control/Bloodborne Pathogens' will show how to protect workers from bloodborne diseases and contamination as well as implementing an effective exposure control plan.

The free four-hour workshops will be held at Portland Community College's Capital Center - Room #1641, 18624 NW Walker Road in Beaverton. Oregon OSHA provides workshop materials for participants.
