Southern Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Conference
The Department of Consumer and Business Services, Occupational Safety and Health Division (Oregon OSHA) invites Southern Oregon employers ready to improve their workplace safety and health programs
to attend the Southern Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Conference, October 20-22 at the Smullin Center, 2825 East Barnett Road in Medford.The conference will provide training on current workplace
issues, and how to integrate safety-and-health management into your company's business strategy. People responsible for prevention of injuries and illnesses in the workplace, including safety and
health professionals, safety committee members, business owners, managers, supervisors or employees, will benefit from the conference workshops.Conference topics include:
· Implementing an Employee Wellness Program on a Zero Budget
· Fall Protection
· Issues of the Aging Workforce
· Improving Safety Committee Effectiveness
A new workshop offered this year focuses on providing safety training to non-English speaking workers, utilizing elements of Oregon OSHA's successful PESO bilingual training program. Leadership
consultant Dan Miller will present two organizational development workshops on Friday October 22 to close out the conference.
Wednesday's keynote address is by Robert Sweetgall, author of 17 books on wellness and walking, and the only person to have walked through all 50 U.S. states in 365 consecutive days. To inspire
conference attendees to focus on wellness, an 'early-bird sunrise stride' fitness walk with Robert Sweetgall around the Rogue Valley Medical Center is scheduled for both days of the conference.
Registration fees for the conference are $120 to attend the Wednesday and Thursday sessions. Attend any single day for $80 or a half-day session for $50. Dan Miller's leadership workshops on
Friday are $40 for either the morning or afternoon session, or attend the full day with lunch included for $75. All registration fees include lunch for the day in attendance. More than 20 exhibitors
will offer demonstrations and introduce their products or services.
