Ergonomics and safety committee workshops in Seaside
The Department of Consumer and Business Services, Occupational
Safety and Health Division (Oregon OSHA) will be providing an
opportunity for employers and workers to improve their workplace
safety and health skills. Three free training classes are scheduled
on October 12 & 13 at Clatsop Community College's South County
Center, 1761 North Holladay Drive in Seaside.
Safety Committee Training
Tuesday October 12, 2004 8:00am to 5:00pm
This workshop gives safety committee members, especially new
members, insight into their roles and how important safety committees
are to building safer workplaces. The class addresses topics
such as meeting management, problem-solving, and writing recommendations
and reviews safety rules that apply in all Oregon workplaces.
This workshop meets Oregon OSHA basic rule requirements for safety
committee training.
Ergonomics Awareness
Wednesday October 13, 2004 8:00am to Noon
Ergonomics is the study of how the human body responds to the design, tasks and tools of a work environment. This workshop will discuss the risk factors involved with a variety of jobs, from
office settings and labor-intensive natural resources work to lifting boxes in warehouses. Workshop participants learn the components of an effective ergonomics program and ways to reduce ergonomic
risks.
Ergonomics - Before and After
Wednesday October 13, 2004 1:00pm to 3:00pmThis workshop looks at ergonomic workstation and task design from a "before-and-after" approach, using group exercises to help transform
ergonomic nightmares into modern solutions for preventing employee injuries. An emphasis is placed on reducing back injuries, musculoskeletal disorders and cumulative trauma disorders.
