Gary Beck, Oregon OSHA's safety enforcement manager, wants employers to remember Oregon OSHA's requirements to protect construction workers from falls.
"It's important for contractors to know there is a requirement for workers to be protected from falls when they're working at heights of 10 feet or more," he said.
In some cases (shown below), workers must be protected from falls if they are working at heights of six feet or more.
When workers are above dangerous equipment, they must be protected from falling, regardless of the height.
Oregon OSHA's fall protection requirements for the construction industry are covered in Subdivision M of Oregon OSHA's safety and health standards. Also, look for information under "Fall protection" in the A-Z topic list on Oregon OSHA's website.
