Firefighter Advisory Committee

Committee information

The Oregon OSHA Firefighter Advisory Committee was established to provide technical assistance and guidance to Oregon OSHA in development, interpretation, and application of occupational safety and health standards for fire and emergency services. The committee's purpose is also to serve as a network between Oregon OSHA and the fire service. Members represent many components of the fire service, including all sizes of departments, career and volunteer firefighters, officers and line personnel, district directors, organized labor, fire instructors, emergency medical services, DPSST, and Oregon OSHA.

The committee and Oregon OSHA continue to work together to address hazards involved in firefighting and emergency response. The committee has been instrumental in developing occupational safety and health standards specifically for firefighters, such as OAR 437-002-0182, Oregon Rules for Firefighters.

The Firefighter Advisory Committee meets at least once every six months. Members are always available for consultation, and open to receiving comments and suggestions concerning safety and health from members of the fire service.
